This painting is a psychography, two in 4–partite series, dedicated to the exploration of the ancient Greek rite of Hieros Gamos, the holy union between a man and a woman before the eyes of the Creator. The first image is dedicated to the inner world of the Mother – her understanding of her union with her husband, her perception of family, its intrinsic ties, the need for “shield”, defining her role as a protector of the family’s hearth. The second image describes the Man–Husband’s interpretation of all these concepts, defining his role as the protector of the family from anything threatening from the external world. Both of them are encircled with the heavenly ties, the divine cosmic drive to protect the human soul and help its evolution, drive to the divine by forming family and taking care of furture generations.
